The red blanket not only warms up, but also evokes the atmosphere of Christmas. It has all colors of vine – red, rosé, and white. Any yarn can be used. If you have a thinner one work with two strands. The blanket was designed for a 5 mm hook, so the work is going quickly. Color change, in turn, helps to keep track of work as it grows and gives space to imagination.
Material: acrylic (or any other) yarn 100 g = 150-200 m. I used: 500 g red, 200 g red-orange color yarn (Bravo color), 200 g red thin, 150 g white
Blanket size: 130 x 180 cm (it depends on you whether you add a repeat if you have more material)
Hook: 5 mm
Other tools: scissors, tapestry needle
Difficulty: beginner
Abbreviations: (US)
Sc – single crochet
Dc – double crochet
Hdc – half double crochet
Ch – chain
Ss – slip stitch
Dc2tog – dc 2 together – one leg to the stitch below, skip 1 stitch, second leg to the next stitch.
Pattern
Body of the blanket
Cast on 112 ch (6×18 + 1 + 3), crochet forth and back, turning the work at the end of every row (This blanket has 6 peaks, 1 peak = 18 ch)
1.r: (red): initial upper peak (dc into 4th ch), intermediate part: 7 dc, lower peak: dc2tog, intermediate part: 7 dc, upper peak: (dc, ch, dc) in next stitch. Repeat intermediate parts and peaks. The last peak: 2 dc in last stitch
2.-4 r. (red): initial upper peak (ch3, dc to 1.dc), intermediate part: 7 dc, lower peak: dc2tog, intermediate part: 7 dc, upper peak: (dc, ch, dc) in next stitch. Repeat intermediate parts and peaks. The last peak: 2 dc to the 3rd ch of previous row.
5.-6 r. (white) – as 2.r. – instead of dc use sc and ch1 at the beginning of the row.
7.-10. r (1 thread of thin red and 1 thread of color yarn) – as 2.r.
Repeat rows 7-12, change colors as you wish.
When your blanker is long enough, finish with rows 7-10. Cut the yarn.
Edge
We continue as if we were just changing the color in the pattern.
1.r.: (red) Upper zig-zag part: corner (4 sc, mark 3rd one), next stitches crochet as row 5, at the end crochet 4 sc to the 3rd chain (corner, mark 2nd sc), continue on the longitudinal side.
Side: 2sc in every dc row sideways, 1 sc in every sc sideways, if you see that the work is loose, skip every 6th or 10th sc, or take smaller hook and work tightly.
Lower zigzag part: 2 sc to the first stitch (mark the 2nd stitch), 8 sc, (upper peak in the ch space, 6 dc, lower peak, 6 dc) x 4, upper peak, 8 dc, 2 sc to the last stitch (mark 2nd stitch)
Side: – as above. Finish with a ss to 2nd sc, ss to the next sc (marked stitch)
2.r: (red) – as row 1
3.-6. r: (white) – as row 1- at the end do not join with a ss but cut the yarn and finish with invisible stitch.
You may attach tassels to upper and lower part of the blanket.
