Cake yarn is used for his project. The pattern used for the squares is called „Bavarian“ and you can find a pretty good free video and chart here

Beige yarn of the same weight is used for connecting the squares. I have already published a baby blanket with the same pattern. You can find it here under post Julinka

Material: 100% acrylic, 100 g cca 360 m (200 g Berenika, 50 g beige yarn), 4 mm hook

Dimensions: 90 x 90 cm

Skill level: intermediate

Stitches:

eds – extended dc

stbpsc – standing back post sc – video you can find here

ss – slip stitch.

ch – chain

Approach:

Make 4 squares

Each square has 12 rows of Bavarian pattern. If you decide to crochet a different number, make sure that the last row ends with a finished plastic square of the Bavarian pattern.

The edge of the square

First corner fan: connect the beige yarn using the bpsc to the 6th stich of the corner fan, 2 ch (above the center of the fan), 4 bpsc, bphdc, bpdc, edc to the sc from previous row

Into all fans from the previous row: bpdc, bphdc, 4 x bpsc, bphdc, bpdc

Into all sc from previous row: edc

Into the the corner fans: bpdc, bphdc, 6 x bpsc,2 ch,  6 x bpsc, bphdc, bpdc

The last corner fan:  bpdc, bphdc, 3 x bpsc we finish with po in the first corner space

Joining the squares

I used beige color.

Place the squares flatly as you wish to have them in the blanket.

Sew or crochet them together in one direction and then in other direction.

I crocheted them together with ss to the BL. When I held 2 squares back-to back BLs are: 2nd loop on the square near to you, 1st loop of the farer square.

Ss to the corner, ss along the side, ss over the corner space, 2ch, ss over the corner space of the next square, ss along the sides, ss into the corners space. Do not twist the squares while connecting.

The edge

1st row – Base

Connect the beige yarn to any corner, 2 ch,

into the 1st corner space: dc, 2 ch, 2 dc,

in each stitch: dc.,

to the joins: 2 dc into the corner space, edc into the join of the squares, 2 dc into the corner space of the following square

into the corner space: 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc

Repeat around the entire blanket, finish the row with a ss to the 1st regular sc. Do not cut the yarn, leave it loose.

2nd row – Colorful

Connect color yarn, 2 ch

into the 1st corner space: dc, 2 ch, 2 dc,

in each stitch: dc,

into the corner space: 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc

Repeat around the entire blanket, finish the row with a ss to the 1st regular dc. Cut the yarn.

3rd row – creates a plastic edge.

Take the beige yarn.

Crochet all stitches as back post stitches except of the corner ones. Start the row using the standing back post sc around the last dc before the corner gap.

into the corner space: sc, ro, sc

to each column: bpsc

We end the row with ss in the 1st corner space.

4th row – strengthens the edge.

With beige yarn:

into the corner space: sc, ro, sc

into bpsc on the sides: (ch, sc) – we repeat along the entire side. After finishing the last  stitch, cut the yarn and sew invisibly to have a smooth edge.
