Hexagon  (solid – make 7)

Start with a magic ring or with 4ch closed in a circle (green yarn)

1.r.: 2ch, 11 dc, join with a ss to 1st dc.

2.r.: 2ch, (cor, 1 dc)  x 5, cor, 0 dc, join with po to 1st dc in the row (1st corner dc) (3 dc on side)

3.r.: 2ch, (cor, 3 dc)  x 5, cor, 2 dc, join with po to 1st dc in the row (1st corner dc) (5 dc on side)

4.r.: 2ch, (cor, 5 dc)  x 5, cor, 4 dc,  join with po to 1st dc in the row (1st corner dc) (7 dc on side)

Continue this way until 14th row is finished. Cut the yarn and join with invisible join to the 1st dc in row. Sew in the threads, block the hexagon if you wish. You may check internet regarding the blocking, or you may read my blog post about blocking here.

Hexagon (with holes – make 6)

Start with a magic ring or with 4ch closed in a circle (green yarn)

1.r.: 2ch, 11 dc, join with a ss to 1st dc.

2.r.: 2ch, (cor, 1 dc)  x 5, cor, 0 dc, join with po to 1st dc in the row (1st corner dc) (3 dc on side)

3.r.: ss to the corner space, 5ch, dc, /(ch, skip1, dc), ch, cor/x5, (ch, skip1, dc), ch, finish the row with a ss to 3rd ch

4.r.: 2ch, (cor, 5 dc)  x 5, cor, 4 dc, join with po to 1st dc in the row (1st corner dc) (7 dc on side)

5.r.: 2ch, (cor, 7 dc)  x 5, cor, 6 dc, join with po to 1st dc in the row (1st corner dc) (9 dc on side)

6.r.: ss to the corner space, 5ch, dc, /(ch, skip1, dc) x 4, ch, cor/x5, (ch, skip1, dc) x 4, ch, finish the row with a ss to 3rd ch

7.-8.r – similarly to 4.-5.r.

9.r. – similarly to 6.r.

10.-11.r – similarly to 4.-5.r.

12.r. – similarly to 6.r.

13.-14.r – similarly to 4.-5.r. Continue this way until 14th row is finished. Cut the yarn and join with invisible join to the 1st dc in row. Sew in the threads.

White lines in hexagons

Take furry yarn and make 2 consecutive rows of ss with hook 5,5 mm. Work lose. Make one ss in the holes. In the corners work as following: ss to the corner space, ss to the corner space 1 row above, ss to the corner space. (This way the corners will be nice and clear, and the work will not be tight in corners.) at the end of ss row cut the yarn and join with invisible stitch to the first ss in row.

Block the hexagon if you wish. You may check internet regarding the blocking, or you may read my blog post about blocking here.

Half hexagon 1 (solid, make 3)

Crochet turning the work at the end of row unless stated differently.

Start with a magic ring or with 4ch closed in a circle (green yarn)

1.r (WS).: 3ch, 7 dc, turn

2.r.(RS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, 1 dc, cor, 1 dc, cor, 3 dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn (4 dc on side, 3 dc on middle side)

3.r.(WS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, 3 dc, cor, 3 dc, cor, 5 dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn (6 dc on side, 5 dc on middle side)

4.r.(RS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, 5 dc, cor, 5 dc, cor, 7 dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn (8 dc on side, 7 dc on middle side)

5.-14.r continue similarly. After 14 rows we have 28 dc and 27 dc in the middle part. Sew in the threads, block the hexagon if you wish

Half hexagon 2 (with holes, make 1)

Crochet turning the work at the end of row unless stated differently.

Start with a magic ring or with 4ch closed in a circle (green yarn)

1.r (WS).: 3ch, 7 dc, turn

2.r.(RS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, 1 dc, cor, 1 dc, cor, 3 dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn (4 dc on side, 3 dc on middle side)

3.r. (WS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, (ch, skip 1, dc, ch, cor) x 2, ch, skip1, dc, ch, 2dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn

4.r.(RS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, 5 dc, cor, 5 dc, cor, 7 dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn (8 dc on side, 7 dc on middle side)

5.r.(WS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, 7 dc, cor, 7 dc, cor, 9 dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn (10 dc on side, 9 dc on middle side)

6.r. (RS): 3ch, dc to 1st stitch, /(ch, skip 1, dc)x4, ch, cor) x 2, ch, skip1, dc)x4, ch, 2dc, last 2 dc are made into 3rd ch from previous row, turn

7.-8.r – similarly to 4.-5.r.

9.r. – similarly to 6.r.

10.-11.r – similarly to 4.-5.r.

12.r. – similarly to 6.r.

13.-14.r – similarly to 4.-5.r. Continue this way until 14th row is finished. Cut the yarn Sew in the threads and make 2 rows of ss with furry yarn as written above. You may block the half-hexagon.

Connecting the squares together

Lay the hexagons as you wish and sew or crochet them together in one direction and then in other direction.

I crocheted the hexagons together with ss as following: I held 2 squares together with right sides out. Ss were done through BLs (holding the hexagons together it is 2nd loop of square near to you and 1st loop of the farther square.

Ss to the corner chain, ss to every stitch of the hexagon side, ss to corner ch,  take next 2 hexagons and repeat.

Edge

Side part

  1. r.: Connect the yarn on the front side to the corner space. 3ch, dc2og, let’s continue in the line ds as follows: dc to dc, dc to the corner space, dc to the joint, 2dc to sides of dc, dc to the middle of the half hexagon. At the end of the row: ds2tog, ds turn work

2.r.: 3ch, dc2tog, dc to each dc, up to the last 2 dc, dc2tog, dc to 3rd loop previous r.,  cut the yarn

Do the second side.

If your edge is rippling or lose, it is necessary to take a smaller hook, or make fewer stitches, resp. do several dc2tog – so you won’t have gaps in your work (unwanted holes)

Upper and lower part

At the top and bottom we make 7 rows of dc as follows: 3ch, dc2 together, in the sides of dc rows we make 2 dc, dc to dc, lower peak: ds2 together (one leg in front of the lower peak, skip 1, the other leg behind the lower peak), upper peak: dc, 2ch, dc. Before the end of the line dc2tog, dc (next rows we make this dc to the šrd ch of previous row), turn the work and continue with the next row. After 7th row cut the yarn, sew in the threads.

Around the whole blanket

1 r. Attach the yarn to the corner dc from RS. This is the row of dc-s around the whole blanket. Crochet as many  dc-s into the corner  so that the corner is straight (for me 4 ds). 1st corner: 2ch, 3dc, other corners: 4dc

– Upper and lower part

o beginning of the peak part – dc2tog, dc up to peak

o upper peaks – dc, 2ch, dc

o lower peaks – dc2tog, (one leg in front of the lower peak, skip 1, the other    leg behind the lower peak

o end of the peak part – dc2tog, dc before the corner

  • Side part: dc-s, finish the row with a ss to first dc in the row.

2.r: Holes. Crochet holes around the whole blanket. Start with (ch 4 , dc in next stitch, ch 1, dc in next stitches) – first corner made. Continue in pattern: ch, skip1, dc, ch, skip 1,dc ……. In the corners we do not skip 1 stitch twice, in the upper peaks we crochet as usual dc, 2ch, dc, in lower peaks we skip 2 twice.

3.r. (furry yarn): attach the yarn to the corner. Use 5,5 mm hook. Crochet corners and upper peaks: sc, ch, sc. In each hole crochet sc, skip the dc-s. Cut the yarn at the end  and connect with invisible stitch. Sew all the threads, done.
