A scarf made from leftover yarn, crocheted with double crochet stitches using a very simple pattern.

Materials: Approx. 150–200 g of various worsted weight yarns (white, beige, brown, dark brown, light blue, dark blue), yarn needle, scissors

Hook: 5 mm (US H-8)

Size: Approximately 35 x 200 cm (about 14 x 79 inches)

Skill level: Beginner

Abbreviations (US terms):

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet

Pattern:

Foundation chain:
Ch 185 (multiple of 4 + 2)

Row 1: (Ch 3 + ch 1), 3 dc into the 7th ch from the hook,
(ch 1, skip 3 ch, 3 dc into the next ch) – repeat until the end of the row.
The last group of 3 dc goes into the 4th ch from the end,
ch 1, skip 2 ch, dc into the last ch.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc into the next ch-1 space,
(ch 1 over 3 dc group, 3 dc into next ch-1 space) – repeat to the end of the row.
At the end: ch 1, 2 dc into the last ch-1 space, dc into the 3rd ch of turning chain from the previous row.

Row 3: Ch 4 (acts as ch 3 + ch 1),
(3 dc into next ch-1 space, ch 1 over 3 dc group) – repeat to the end.
At the end: ch 1 over 2 dc group, dc into the 3rd ch of turning chain from the previous row.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you run out of yarn, alternating colors as desired.

The scarf in the photo has 14 rows.

Finishing:

Attach color-coordinated fringes to both short edges of the scarf.
