Beauty in simplicity! This applies to this blanket, which even a beginner with basic crochet stitches can handle. Thick wool can be used, so the work goes fast. The change of colors, helps to keep track of work as it grows and gives space to imagination.                                             .

Pattern

Body of the blanket

Cast on 84 ch (5×16 + 1 + 3), crochet forth and back, turning the work at the end of every row

1.r: (light old pink): initial upper peak (dc into 4th ch), intermediate part: 6 dc, lower peak: dc2tog, intermediate part: 6 dc, upper peak: (dc, ch, dc) in next stitch. Repeat intermediate parts and peaks. The last peak: 2 dc in last stitch

2.-5 r. (light old pink): initial upper peak (ch3, dc to 1.dc), intermediate part: 6 dc, lower peak: dc2tog, intermediate part: 6 dc, upper peak: (dc, ch, dc) in next stitch. Repeat intermediate parts and peaks. The last peak: 2 dc to the 3rd ch of previous row ch3

6 r. (burgundy) – as 2.r. – instead of dc use sc and ch1 at the beginning of the row.

7.-11. r (light old pink) – as 2.r.

12.r. (cream) – as 6.r.

Repeat these 12 rows in beige, then in old pink to the desired length. End with the 11th line

Edge (cream)

We continue as if we were just changing the color in the pattern.

Upper zig-zag part: crochet as row 2, at the end add another 2 dc +2 sc, continue with the longitudinal side.

Side: sc  in each row sideways – very loose, if you see that the work is tight, make 2 dc in 1st and 2nd dc row and 1 sc into 3rd dc row. (Crochet 1 sc to sc rows). Repeat along the whole length, add 2 sc and 1 dc  in the first dc on the lower zig-zag edge and continue with

Lower zigzag part: 7 dc, /upper peak in the ch space, 6 dc, lower peak, 6 dc) x 4, upper peak, 8 dc,+ add 2 sc in the same stitch as last dc

Side: – as above. Add 2 sc and 2 dc to the first stitch of the edge row (the 3rd ch of ch3 below.

Cut the yarn and finish the work with an invisible stitch. Sew in all loose threads.

Color alternative 2

Material: thick wool (Bongo, 100% acrylic, 100 g = 120 m, or Tanja 100% acrylic, 100 g – 120, or Atlas, 100% acrylic 100 g = 130 m,) 5x light old pink, 1x burgundy, 1x beige , 5x cream.

For this blanket, I used the pattern according to lines 1 and 2 above.

The color change can be seen in the picture.

The edge is done similarly to alternative 1

1.r :. old pink – row of dc

2.r.: burgundy – row of sc to the back loop (use sc2tog in lower peaks)

3.r.: old pink – row of dc

Shape the corners so that they are smooth and lay flat. Decrease / increase the number of sc/dc in the corners as necessary

Cut the yarn and finish the work with an invisible stitch. Sew in all loose threads.
