Yarn: 100% baby acrylic 50 g cca 130 m

200 g ombre burgundy (Burcum Bebe batik), 200 g white (Burcum Bebe)

Dimensions:  80x80cm

You will need: hook  4,5 – 5 mm, tapestry needle, scissors

Stitches (US terms)

ch – chain

ss – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

edc – extended double crochet

tr – triple crochet

tr3tog – crochet 3 tripple crochet under 1 head ch

tr2tog – crochet 2 tripple crochet under 1 head ch

BL – back loop

WS – wrong side

 

Square (make 16)

Start with a magic ring or with 4ch closed in a circle (batik yarn)

1.r.: ch1, 6 sc, join to 1 sc with a ss. (6 sc)

2.r.: (burgundy) 3 ch (=1.tr), in the same stitch tr2tog (=initial cluster made), 3 ch, (tr3tog in next stitch (=cluster made), 3ch)x5, connect the row with ss to tr2tog. (Flower with 6 leaves)

3.r.: (burgundy) 2ch, 5 dc to Ch spaces, 1 dc to the flower leaf, connect the row with a ss to 1st dc. (36 dc),

4.r. (burgundy) 2ch, all ds are crocheted into back loop. Dc, (2dc in next stitch, 2dc) x 11, 2 dc in next stitch,  cut the yarn, join the row with invisible stitch, (48 stitches)

5.r: (white) Squaring the circle. We have 12 stitches for a side (incl. corner). Attach the white yarn (does not matter where) ch, 3sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, 1 edc, corner (2tr, 2ch, 2 tr), (1edc, 1 dc, 2hdc, 3 sc, 2hdc, 1 dc, 1 edc, corner) x 3, 1 edc, 1 dc, 2 hdc, cut the yarn, (15 st. on side), cut the yarn,  connect the row via invisible join to 1st sc.

Sew in the threads.

 

Connecting the squares together (white)

Lay the squares as you wish and sew or crochet them together in one direction and then in other direction.

I crocheted the squares together with ss as following: I held 2 squares together with right sides out. Ss were done through BLs (holding the squares together it is 2nd loop of square near to you and 1st loop of the farther square.

Ss to the corner chain, ss to every stitch of the square, ss to corner ch, ch1, take next 2 squares and repeat to the end of row. Continue until all squares are joined.

Edge (white)

1.r: row of dc-s.  Dc-s are crocheted to BL. Connectto any corner space. Initial corner: 2ch, 2 ds, 2ch, 3 dc, corner: 3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc. Between squares: 2 dc in the ch space, crochet together 3 stitches, (1st st. dc – leg to  corner ch space,  2nd st. tr – leg to the middle space between 2 squares,  3rd st. dc – leg to  corner ch space, 2dc ro ch space after the join.  (101 stitches on side)

2.r: row of dc-s. Dc-s are crocheted to BL. Crochet dc-s on side,  2dc, 2ch, 2 dc to corner space, initial corner (ch2, dc, ch2, 2 ds), skip 1st stitch on every side. Connect to 1st dc with a ss.(104 stitches), ss to the corner space

3.r: Crochet to both loops. On side: 2ch, skip 2, sc, 2 ch, skip 2, sc……… (2ch are done very loose, if they are tight, do 3ch instead of 2) Corners: sc, 2ch, sc, initial corner: 3ch, sc. Join with a ss to corner space.

4.r: Crochet sc and hdc as following: Corner: sc, 2ch, sc, side: sc to sc, 2hdc to ch spaces. Cut the yarn and finish with invisible join.

Sew in the threads on the WS.
